Information on Australian Shepherd health and genetics:

The Canadian Kennel Club

Did you know that only 2% of Toy sized Australian Shepherds
tested showed evidence of hip dysplasia?
...And only 8
.7% of Miniature sized Australian Shepherds?
Did you know that a Vet looking at an x-ray cannot distinguish between
poor hips caused by injury and poor hips caused by genetics?
Did you know that to accurately predict if a litter will be of risk
to hip dysplasia is to test not only the parents
but the uncles and aunts as well.
Only testing the parents give us an unclear look at the risks.
Contact me for my views on hip testing and their results.

Remember, if a dog was the teacher you would learn
things like:

When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.

Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.

Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be
pure Ecstasy.

Take naps.

Stretch before rising.

Run, romp, and play daily.

Thrive on attention and let people touch you.

Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.

On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.

On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.

When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.

Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.

Be loyal.

Never pretend to be something you're not.

If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.

nuzzle them gently.

On our property we have a metal bin where
local residents can drop off their unwanted

donate 30% of the revenue from each bin.
Since November 2011 over $6000.00 has
been donated to this wonderful and
important charity.  Click to go to L.A.W.S. - All About Your Favorite Breed. Information and resources featuring sections on Australian Shepherd history, health, genetics, temperament, training and agility with directories of rescue organizatons and breeders.
